Stars of the White Nights

During the summer of 2007 the Mariinsky Theatre will be hosting the XV International Stars of the White Nights Festival. This festival of performing arts is the pinnacle of St. Petersburg's cultural calendar and will see all manner of Russian and foreign maestros perform in the fields of ballet, opera and classical music. Exiting the theatre into the luminous midnight skies of the fabled White Nights is an unforgettable experience.

Opera Tosca

The opera Tosca by Giacomo Puccini is still extremely popular. You can enjoy the wonderful music and singers at the legendary Mariinsky Theatre. The ticktes cost between 8 and 500 roubles at the office which is open between 11:00 and 19:00.

Chinese Art

The Hermitage regularly hosts great exhibitions from all over the world and this month is no exception. In collaboration with the Shanghai Museum, St Petersburg's finest museum will display some of the finest works of art to come from China. Stravinsky Remembered

To celebrate the 125th anniversary of the birth of one of Russia's finest composers, Igor Stravinsky, the London Symphony Orchestra, will perform some of his selected works in his honour. It is sure to be an entertaining night as Stravinsky, who lived in St Petersburg, is still regarded as one of the city's greatest sons. This looks as if it could be one not to miss. Swan Lake

Ballet Giselle

The fantasy ballet in two acts by Adolphe Adam is a dream for ballet dancers. You and the rest of the audience will be enchanted by the dreamy music and the wonderful choreography by Jean Coralli, Jules Perrot and Marius Petipa. The tickets cost 1500 roubles and are available in the Hermitage Theatre.
