Madama Butterfly

This japanese tragedy tells a story of love, betrayal, pain and suicide. As dramatic as the plot is already, it is pushed to its limits, by Giaccomo Puccini's music and by Boris Kudli?ka set design. Though the play premiered in January 1913 at the Mariinsky its constantly-full audience keeps it playing until now.
